Since her childhood, Dr. Manisha Patel was drawn to serving others and was always described as kind and compassionate. Growing up in Charlotte, NC, she spent most of her summers volunteering at the local hospital, teaching children at the public library, and restoring  parks with her Girl Scout troop. Her affinity to help the ill grew rapidly during her time working in her community hospital. She dedicated her time to sit and listen to the experiences and adventures of her patients. These experiences fueled her desire to pursue a career in medicine, specifically primary, geriatric, and preventative care.

      Dr. Patel graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Biology and Chemistry from Mercer University.  She completed her Doctorate of Medicine (MD) and graduated Cum Laude from St. George’s University (SGU) School of Medicine. During her training, she  helped organize fundraisers for diabetes research,  collected medical supplies and hygiene products for the homeless, and even participated in providing screening medical examinations to children in poverty stricken communities. Dr. Patel participated in many scholarly endeavors which included cutting-edge laboratory research for which she was awarded the Johnson C. Johnson award for excellence in Biological research, was selected for the Mercer Research Scholar Training Initiative and was amongst the Top 10% of research presenters at the Mercer University Breakthroughs in Engagement, Arts & Research (BEAR) Day. She uniquely combined her passion for service and her scholarly pursuit into an award winning, innovative multifaceted resident physician team building model committed towards improving the training environment for future physicians and colleagues during her medical residency training. She was published and featured in international peer-review journal as well as at the American College of Physicians.

      Dr. Patel completed her internal medicine residency at Piedmont Athens Regional Medical Center in Athens, GA. She is a double-board certified physician through the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Obesity Medicine. Uniquely trained, she performs bedside point of care ultrasound, which allows her to diagnose and treat her patients with accuracy and precision. Additionally, Dr. Patel’s extensive practice in a full-risk geriatric primary care practice expanded her proficiency in managing a wide spectrum of acute and chronic diseases.  She is passionate about  educating her patients through nutrition and lifestyle modification and it’s role in disease prevention, leading to a happier and healthier life. She believes that a collaborative, patient-centered approach to disease management and prevention is essential to improving overall health. She understands the value of timeless, traditional care and combines it with innovative modern medicine. Her warm, welcoming personality ensures that every patient experiences quality care with the utmost comfort and respect. 

 

      Dr. Patel is a charismatic public speaker and enjoys giving community talks on various topics including breast cancer awareness, cardiac health, nutrition, diabetes management, hypertension management, and was even selected by her peers to deliver the commencement speech at the culmination of her residency training. 

 

      Dr. Manisha Patel wholeheartedly believes in giving back to the community and is honored to be a part of the welcoming Stuart and surrounding communities. When she is not taking care of her patients, Dr. Patel is a national chess player, a violinist, an avid hiker and is trained in Indian traditional dance. She is a Girl Scout Gold Award Recipient and loves spending time with her husband and their dog, Pluto. She loves to travel and her favorite travel destination to date is The Dolomites mountain range in the Italian Alps.
